Intersectional Feminism: An introduction

Intersectional feminism is the idea that all people discriminated against intersect with each other. One way of thinking about this idea is that all of our traits combine to form a web of discrimination and privilege. This means that all of our traits impact the way we experience oppression and inequality. American law professor, Kimberle Crenshaw, described intersectional feminism as “a prism for seeing the way in which various forms of inequality often operate and exacerbate each other.” Intersectional feminism is extremely important in today’s society in order to gain social and political equality.
